Checking Out The Creedmoor Sports TRX-925 Precision Reloading Scale
Testing Repeatability:
After calibrating the scale, I removed the check weight and it settles down to 0.00gr. I decided to use the included gold-anodized anti-static scale pan to test for repeatability. The small set of readings I took were: 130.40gr, 130.40, 130.39gr, and lastly, 130.40gr. That is (based on my poor public school math) roughly 99.998% accurate. Not a bad start. Good enough for most of my uses. Now, onto measuring other random objects to see how much deviation we can find between the weight of those objects.
After cleaning up the light, flaky, fluffy Red Dot powder, I decided to grab a much thicker extruded variety, Vihtavuori N160, and try to weigh out the individual kernels. This is where I noticed the scale has a minimum weight before you can start trickling or weighing individual pieces of powder, but that is a small threshold. Once you pass that weight the scale can easily detect changes in weight as small as 0.02gr.
Most of the VV N160 sticks weighed between 0.02gr and 0.03gr. With a bit of patience you can have yourself some very consistently measured powder charges.
After testing some powder, I then compared the weights of some cast and powder coated projectiles, as well as some spent primers that were laying around. Thinking back, these used primers would have probably weighed more consistently before having been fired.
But, with this newly acquired capability to measure objects to the hundredth of a grain, primer sorting might become a thing around the bench, if a load calls for it.
VIDEO REVIEW:
Here’s an in depth look at the Creedmoor Sports TRX-925 Precision Reloading Scale.
CONCLUSIONS:
Overall, I am very impressed with the Creedmoor Sports TRX-925 Precision Reloading Scale. I’ve had a scale that supposedly read and measured to the nearest hundredth of a grain, but it was not even close to the level of precision presented by this scale. It warms up quickly and the included weights make calibration a breeze. The wind shield is also immensely helpful for guarding your scale pan from potential wind drifts and other exterior forces that would otherwise cause interference with the reading.
The multiple sensitivity settings prove helpful, especially if you are trying to trickle up your charges, or want to run an auto-trickler set up. The anti-static scale pan is very high quality and makes pouring your charges a dream by not having to smack your funnel to free any stuck kernels of propellant.
This scale is not only useful for weighing and comparing components, but you can use it as a final check to verify your other automated powder dispensers before seating your bullets. Long story short, if your shooting demands one of the most accurate reloading measurement systems available, do not hesitate to pick up the Creedmoor Sports TRX-925 Precision Reloading Scale!
