Brazos Bullet Company 9mm 115 Grain Competition Grade Projectiles

Introduction:

Brazos Bullet Company

Not too long ago, I received an email from the kind folks in Hearne, TX at Brazos Bullet Company. They reached out to the channel to get an honest review on their product. I inquired about what their most popular SKUs were in the cartridges I reload for – and they gladly sent out several samples for us to test and review!

That brings us to my first experience with their Hi-Tek coated projectiles – The 9mm, 0.356″ Diameter, 115 Grain Round Nose No-Lube-Groove Bevel Base design.

Taking Some Measurements:

Bullet weights vary by only +/- 1.6 grains

This initial set of tests and measurements shows us how consistent these Brazos Hi-Tek Coated Bullets are, both in weight and diameter. However, the specific lot of bullets that we received ended up being just a couple grains over the suggested weight of 115 grains, at 118.1 grains.

This leads me to believe the alloy they use is just slightly softer than the bullet molds were designed around. Not to worry – This is a negligible amount of change in hardness and not an issue once coated and run at proper pressures and velocities.

A Trip To The Range:

New Starline Brass gives very consistent results.

Once we made it out to the range, everything chambered and cycled flawlessly in my stock Gen 5 Glock 17. The brass ejected with a consistent pattern and there were no signs of over pressure on either the case head or the primers.

Overall, I was satisfied with these results so I will replicate these loads for a future range trip where we will shoot for accuracy as well as collect some chronograph data.
